Robert Weisman, Administrator Of Palm Beach County
Palm Beach County is governed by seven elected commissioners who appoint a County Administrator to run the day-to-day operation of county government. The County Administrator has executive powers to implement the policies and procedures set forth by the Board of County Commissioners.
The County Administrator manages an annual budget in excess of $2 billion and oversees more than 5,000 county employees in nearly 30 departments, divisions, and offices. Together, they must work in concert to provide quality services, programs and information to the more than one million residents of Palm Beach County.
Supervising the day-to-day workings of one of the fastest-growing and geographically largest counties in the nation is extremely challenging. That duty has been entrusted to Robert Weisman, who has served as County Administrator since 1991.
Robert Weisman was appointed County Administrator by the Board of County Commissioners in December 1991. From 1988 to 1991, he served as Assistant County Administrator, and from 1985 to 1988 he was director of the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department. Mr. Weisman began his career with Palm Beach County in 1980 as an engineer with the Land Development Division of the Engineering and Public Works Department.
Under Mr. Weisman’s guidance, Palm Beach County has enjoyed managerial and financial stability. Recently, the county received a AAA bond rating from both Fitch IBCA and Standard & Poor’s, the highest bond rating available. Palm Beach County is one of only eight counties nationwide so recognized.
In 1995, the Voters Coalition of Palm Beach County selected Mr. Weisman as “Man of the Year.” Professionally, Mr. Weisman is an engineer, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1973 from Cooper Union in New York City.
