County Services Are Now Available Close To Home

The next time you have to register your car or pay your property taxes, don’t bother driving east. If you need to get a county building permit or review the assessment on your property, just visit the Midwestern Communities Service Center.

In October 2001, the long-awaited Midwestern Communities Service Center opened to the public.

Long-gone are the days when using county services required a long drive to downtown West Palm Beach. Just about all services are available through the Midwestern Communities Service Center, located at 200 Civic Center Way in Royal Palm Beach, between the Royal Palm Beach library and the Cultural Center. The building houses offices for County Commissioner Tony Masilotti, the Property Appraiser, the Tax Collector, the Clerk of the Circuit Court, and County Planning, Zoning & Building.

County Commissioner Tony Masilotti was joined by Property Appraiser Gary Nikolits; County Planning, Zoning & Building Director Barbara Alterman; Tax Collector John K. Clark; and Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorothy Wilken at a gala dedication ceremony last October.

“We will now be able to pay our property taxes here and get licenses,” said Masilotti, “all of which will give residents the one thing they need more of — time.”

Masilotti, who has been given tremendous credit for initiating the building, thanked former Royal Palm Beach Mayor Sam Lamstein for his efforts in helping purchase the Civic Center Way land back in the 1980s.
